Here's How You REALLY Make A Blog Stand Out
Anyone can start a blog. Who are we kidding, this is hardly tough work! Thanks to all the funky tech out there, anyone can pretty much hop online and create a blog for free. As long as you have fingers and the ability to string sentences together, then you can create content for that blog. Hey presto, within a few minutes you’ve now become the proud owner of your brand new blog.
There are blogs for everything and anything you can think of. I’ve seen blogs about popular TV shows, blogs about sports, and even blogs about blogs. The internet is so saturated with blogs, it’s got to the point where you run a query through Google and end up with a results page full of different blog sites (and that’s not taking into account all those other search result pages that we rarely venture to).
There are so many blogs out there, and yet, most of us only ever visit a handful of different sites. We’ve all got our favorite ones that we go back to time and time again. The point I’m trying to make here is that there are loads of blogs, but it can be very hard to get your blog noticed by others. Think of yourself as a small fish swimming amongst a pack of loads of other fish (is a fish pack a thing, or did I just make that up?). It’s incredibly hard for you to stand out because other fish are covering you up and making you invisible. So, how can you make yourself stand out from the crowd and get noticed by more and more people? There are plenty of things you can try, and you’ll kick yourself for not attempting them earlier.
Make Your Blog A Brand
Branding your blog is a genius way to get noticed by more people and really make it stand out. To do this, you need to consider various things like your blog design and logo. That’s right, your website now needs a unique logo, which a lot of blogs don’t have. Find a logo design tool online and get to work creating something that reflects your blog. Similarly, it pays to get web design from an expert designer rather than using a typical web building platform. Here, you can truly get a unique design completed, helping you brand your blog. By having a brand, you now give people something to identify with. Which is basically a fancy way of saying they’ll see your logo and like it because it looks cool!
Do Something Different
C'mon guys, I like Game of Thrones as much as the next person, but there’s only so much I can take. Cool it with your blogs about Jon Snow and Queen D theories, they’ve been done over and over again - leave it! The best way to stand out is to go against the grain and try something different. Remember that awesome fish analogy from earlier? Well, imagine you decide to turn around and swim in the opposite direction to your fish pack. They all go one way, but you stand out from the crowd on your own! In blog terms, this can mean anything; get creative. You don’t need a totally unique idea, just a different way of approaching things compared to everyone else. Have a look at other blogs that cover similar topics to yours and see what they’re not doing, then do that!
Come Up With Good Titles
The titles for your blog posts are ultimately the first thing people see. If someone’s searching for the topic you’ve covered, they’ll see loads of links to blog posts that cover this topic. What makes them click yours? A catchy title that reels them in. There are a few simple rules to follow here. Firstly, the boring one, make sure you include target keywords in the title for SEO purposes. Secondly, make the title short and sweet. Long titles won’t show up in Google search results, they’ll just get cut off halfway through anyway. Short and sweet is the best way to go. Thirdly, the title should lure the reader in by offering them what they’re looking for. As an example, you found this blog post because you were looking for ways to make your blog stand out, correct? You clicked on this because of the title, and the word REALLY in capitals, so it stands out and grabs your attention. Do things like this with your titles, make them relevant to what people are searching for, but also include things to draw them in.
And that’s it; that’s how you really make a blog stand out. It’s not rocket science - it’s probably not even basic science - so anyone can do it!
